LPG to remain cheap until at least 2007........

In the 2004 budget speech Gordon Brown told us that LPG would increase in price by 1p per litre more than Petrol would in subsequent budgets, in order to reduce the LPG / Petrol price differential.

This wasn't as bad a measure as some LPG users had feared.

OK, given the reduction in price differential, and assuming (say) 2p per year increase in fuel duty, by 2007 LPG will have risen in price by 9p and Petrol 6p.

Petrol in my area is .78p, LPG is 35p, both on average.

Projected prices for 2007 are then .44p (LPG) and .84p (Petrol). LPG will be just over half the price of the mean stuff.

We clearly have a huge price advantage fixed for the next three years.

Any car is worth converting (average car ownership is said to be 14 months, source = Motoring Which?) for drivers doing a lot of miles.

So, let's get on with converting so that as many people as possible can save as much as possible by 2007 - And remember, there is nothing to say it will not remain around half the price of Petrol after that time.

LPG still means the same as it ever did - LESS PENCE for GORDON!
