BMW 735 3.5 litre Straight 6
| A really nice and tidy '89 735 Go LPG! were asked to reduce its thirst for 's |

There are many older prestige cars out there, low mileage, not quite classic but out of fashion streetwise. Purchase prices can be very low, you can get a lot for your money in terms of performance and comfort. Inbuilt safety item such as ABS and impact resistance come as standard on many prestige models. Spares are relatively cheap as breakers and specialist dealers can keep your car running for many years. So why aren't these cars more popular? Well, in general, the people that have the money to spend on running a prestige car would rather have a later and more fashionable model, whilst their high fuel costs are almost always met by company money. People who have to fund thier own motoring or simply want to spend less often have a much smaller budget, so the high cost of Petrol will rule out larger or more powerful models. Go LPG! allow the low budget motorist to cheat the system and drive a better, safer car for a lot less money. That's what the owner of this car wanted, and he wasn't disappointed! |

The 400mm 90 litre cylinder fits like it was made for the car. The remaining boot space will still accomodate two large suitcases whilst holding 74 litres (15.8 imp. gals) of nice cheap LPG. |
| The rear bumper does not offer any suitable filler position on the earlier 7 series models and the owner didn't want it mounted in a rear wing. A good fallback is to fit the filler on the bottom edge of the bumper (square cover seen on the lower left) which easy enough to reach and quite discreet.

| The 'front end' of the conversion incorporates a backfire protection device and a correctly placed gas mixer, not common amongst single mixer conversions. | |
| A good fuel choice switch postion was crucial to the finish of this job. We sought one that allowed a good view of the LPG gauge but not stuck in the driver's face on night journeys (can be annoying!). The switch can be seen mounted in the small black panel in the centre of the picture.

Your 735 or other BMW Straight 6........
A lot of research went into the BMW straight 6 open loop conversion. The car does not have many of the signal generators found on later cars so multi point sequential injection cannot be fitted without a lot of extra expense. The system has full backfire protection for the airflow meter (crucial on a Petrol injected non - cat model). You won't find many firms offering this conversion, and even less getting it right. We have converted several similar cars and have all the data recorded to do more.
The reasoning behind our choice of conversion equipment is fully explained in the item 'What type of conversion is best for my car?'
All owners report savings in fuel cost of at least 50%, some above that if driven carefully. It is very hard to tell when the car is running on gas as performance is practically identical to that of Petrol.
The conversion takes 5 days to complete (including up to 100 miles of road testing) at a cost of 1250 fully inclusive.
We give 12 months parts and labour warranty and issue an insurance certificate with every conversion.
