You may heave heard about the unreliability and complexity of P38 models and perhaps
avoided buying one. I felt similar until I learned that the 1999 onward (Thor engined) cars
are a wholly different car in many ways, Land Rover revised a lot more things than just the
engine. As a result, P38's from late T reg onwards are far less trouble than N to early T reg cars.
overheating issues, no glowing Airbag lights, no problems with the Air Suspension nor
the Aircon. It is utterly reliable, everthing works fine. The car is ready to give many more
miles before needing any money spending on it.
A detachable Towbar is fitted, the electrics work perfectly.
As straight as the day it was built, not even any supermarket dings to speak of.

The wheels and tyres are in excellent condition.
Interior trim is also in very good condition.

The front suspension vertical links were also replaced with new ones.
Most of the exhaust system (the centre box, both rear boxes and pipework) were replaced with new items.
New rear brake discs (2) and pads were fitted
New front brake discs (2) and pads were fitted on 23/04/12
The troublesome steel front to back brake pipes have been replaced with cupro-nickel items.
A replacement fan belt idler pulley bearing was fitted 24/04/12
The car has no warning lights coming up, no airbag lights, no suspension fault warnings, no 'bulb failure' warnings, no aircon warnings nor any of the common problems. If ever there were a car to buy and keep, it would be this one
I run a 4.6 litre P38 myself, and wondered if the 4.0 model might feel a little less powerful. I was surprised to find this car felt no different to my 4.6, it is just as quick and drives superbly.

Most people have recovered the whole cost of the car. When the car owes them nothing and they eventually decide to sell it on, whatever price they get for it is a complete bonus. Depreciation does not even figure in the equation and a converted car is easier to sell to those 'in the know'.
LPG powered vehicles are extremely cheap to run! The fuel can be bought from .48p a litre (less than half the price of petrol) which means that this Range Rover has half of its original fuel cost. The car will still run on Petrol, having its original Petrol tank in place. Petrol may still be used at will, all it takes is the push of a button.
