| Volvo V70 T5 2.3 litre Turbo Although it looks like just another Volvo estate car the T5 is seriously quick when the turbo is wound up. These cars were favoured by Police forces nationwide, mainly for use as armed response units. The cars can be bought very cheaply and are noted for their reliability and long life. This particular car had done 185,000 miles before conversion and it still went like a rocket with no major issues of any kind. Converted to LPG, the car has everything - Performance, good load capability and economy, even if thrashed now and then! |
| We fitted a 65 litre toroidal tank in the spare wheel well which makes no difference to the boot floor level. | |
| Nice flat floor for the load space | |
| To mount the filler point here were had to reinforce the flexible bumper. A rear filler position has one major advantage - It can be used from either side.

|
| The fuel choice switch can be seen here mounted on the Driver's right, easily visible but not intrusive at night.. | |
| DT Autogas systems SGi (Multi point sequential gas injection) equipment was use for this job."> | Here's the converted engine. The 5 gas injectors can be seen sitting on top of the manifold, along with the gas distribution manifold and pipework. The vaporiser (reducer) can be seen mounted at the back of the engine bay. |

Fuel economy........
Given that petrol is now around 2.2 times the price of LPG, this gave an equivalent fuel economy figure of 42mpg in terms of what it would have cost on petrol.
